If you ask me why I love rainbows?
I’ll tell you I don’t.
I miss the version of me that could.
I’ve chased rainbows and returned with only fool’s gold.
For Rainbows only exist while being observed.
And I don’t shine for the approval of strangers.
I love how the rain carves my soul.
I love how the sun rips open the clouds and exposes it.
And if I close my eyes for long enough, I can feel them both dancing together atop my eyelids.
My reminder,
To love the process and not the result.
The question and not the answer.
Who I am and not just who I will be or who I was.
To love myself.
