For episode 440, I welcomed Beach Motors (David Robinson), a DJ and producer from Te Matau-a-Māui, Aotearoa (New Zealand) now based in SF, with a deep love for soulful deep house, minimal grooves, and the warm crackle of vinyl. Co-runner of the Hawke’s Bay–based Lost & Found crew, David curates inclusive, high-energy parties and digs for distinctive cuts that light up the floor.
In his extended all-vinyl takeover, Beach Motors pulled from a crate stacked with timeless house and deep grooves — Swirl People, Inland Knights, Fred Everything, Kaskade, Demarkus Lewis, Chris Stussy, and more — layered with soulful, melodic touches from Plaisir De France and Eden Burns. He also worked in three standouts from his brand-new EP Unfinished Business, weaving them seamlessly into the set’s warm, rolling flow.
